| Prof. dr. F. T. (Erik) Schut
Frederik T. (Erik) Schut is a Professor of health economics and health policy, and Director of research at the Institute of Health Policy and Management (iBMG) at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. In 1995, he received his Ph.D. degree in health economics (cum laude) for his thesis "Competition in the Dutch health care sector". He teaches courses in health economics, health policy and health system analysis. His research focuses on competition and regulation and the role of consumer behavior in health care, long-term care and health insurance markets. He is allied as academic partner to the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB), and member of the editorial boards of Health, Economics, Policy and Law and BMC Health Services Research. In the past, he served as a member of several advisory committees to the government, e.g. on reforming the hospital sector, the financing of primary care, the private health insurance sector and the long-term care insurance scheme. He also served as a member of the Advisory board of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). Currently, he is advisory member of the Commission on Social Security and Health care of the Social and Economic Council (SER) that is preparing an advisory report to the government about Affordable care for future generations (in 2013). For the period 2010-2012, he is appointed as a member of the Commission to evaluate the introduction of bundled payments for several chronic diseases.
